Refuge is the physical space where it provides protection and specialized care and interdisciplinary women, sons and daughters in situations of
family violence, sexual or trafficking.

The Refuge temporarily prevents and protects the victims of major crimes as well as the consequences of violence, such as disability, mutilation, the irreparable loss of mental health, injury and suffering badly served, and even suicides, homicides. During the stay of women and children, the refuge provides them with medical care, psychological, legal guidance and support.

From a perspective of gender equity and human rights,
Shelter
provides tools that strengthen the personal safety of women and their children. It contributes to the development of abilities, skills and capacities for women to make informed decisions assertive in the process of personal and family build a life without violence. A Refuge as one of its main objectives to the victims and proceed to act in what they have to
interrupt the cycle of violence in which they are immersed.

The
Shelter associated with the National Network of Shelters
operate with great discretion. For safety of victims of violence and staff that
addresses the location and staff who work in them is absolutely confidential.

How are the refuges distributed across the country?

  • Central region: Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Distrito Federal, Estado de México and Morelos.
  • Bajio region: Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Guanajuato, San Luís Potosí, Jalisco, Durango, Zacatecas, Michoacán and Guadalajara.
  • Northeast region: Nuevo León, Coahuila and Tamaulipas.
  • Northwest region: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa and Chihuahua.
  • Southern region: Tabasco, Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Veracruz and Guerrero.
